Scenes, not samples

Four tiny horror scenes with the direction and pacing written out. Each card names the voice from the scary voice generator that fits it: press play, then send that voice to the studio and give it your own line.

Meet the cast of the scary voice generator

Eight original characters built for horror, from a demonic growl to a hushed storyteller, because a creepy voice generator is only as good as its cast. Preview any voice free, then send it to the studio and twist it with effects.

A skull-faced wraith with glowing red eyes reaching out of grey mist

Revenant

Demonic · Mechanical

A possessed voice grinding through broken machinery. For bosses, villains and things that should not speak.

A pale, long-haired female ghost in tattered white robes, whispering

Banshee

Possessed · Female

A tormented whisper that climbs into a scream. Vengeful spirits, jump scares, haunted-house rooms.

Close-up of an announcer in a suit speaking into a vintage chrome microphone

Broadcast

Flat · Distorted

The cold, emotionless announcer of analog horror. Wrong in a way you can't quite place.

A gaunt man whispers into an old microphone by candlelight in a dark corridor

Whisperer

Hushed · Frightened

A narrator too afraid to speak up. Creepypasta, campfire tales, late-night storytime.

A horned demon lord sits on a spiked bone throne in a cavern

Overlord

Commanding · Cruel

A towering, unhurried threat. Final bosses, dark lords and trailer voice-overs.

A faceless figure in a dark hood holds a phone to his ear

Stranger

Calm · Unsettling

Polite, patient and deeply wrong. Stalkers, cult leaders, the voice on the other end of the line.

An old woman in a tattered witch hat smiles beside a lit candle

Matron

Cold · Maternal

A soft female narrator with ice underneath. Bedtime stories nobody should hear.

A gravedigger's shadow with a shovel falls across the grass beside a fresh grave at night

Undertaker

Deep · Grave

A deep, steady voice that starts on the Demon effect. Hear it raw, then ruin it.

How the scary voice generator works

  1. 1

    Write the line

Type up to 300 characters, or tap a ready-made horror line. Scary text to speech is free 3 times a day with no sign-up, and an account with credits unlocks the Cinematic engine with tags like [whispers].

  2. 2

    Cast & corrupt

Pick a voice, then add Demon, Ghost, Analog, Echo or Reverse and set the intensity from 0 to 100%. Every voice in the scary voice generator works with every effect, and Reverse at 0% is a clean backwards read.

  3. 3

    Play & export

Press Generate & play and the scary voice generator speaks your line over a live waveform. Swap effects or intensity without generating (or paying) again, then download the raw MP3 or a WAV with the effect baked in.

Scary voice effects

Why a scary voice sounds wrong

Fear lives in a few acoustic tricks, and this scary voice generator turns each one into a one-tap effect. The scary voice effects below run right in your browser, so you can swap them or move the dial without generating the line again, at no extra cost.

Pitch drop

Slow a voice and drop it by up to about six semitones, and the brain hears bigger, older, not human. Demon adds chest, grit and a dark 2.8-second hall, then stacks a second voice an octave below.

Ghost air

A thinned-out voice, a cold 4.5-second tail and a faint, slightly sharp double 45 ms behind, as if it came from the next room. Turn it up and the voice sinks into its reverb.

Analog signal

Narrow band, clipped peaks, a hard compressor and a bed of hiss: the emergency-broadcast sound of analog horror. More intensity means a thinner band and louder hiss.

Cellar echo

Repeats that get darker each time they come back, over a 3-second room, like someone answering from underground. Push the dial and the gaps stretch and the repeats linger.

Backmasking

The line played backwards into a 3.5-second hall, the oldest trick in the occult playbook. At 0% it’s a clean reversal: no reverb, no slowdown, no tail.

Intensity dial

Every effect in the scary voice generator has a 0–100% dial. Keep it subtle for narration or push it until it hurts. It works on generated lines and on your own recordings in the voice changer, and moving it never costs a new generation.

A scary voice generator, not just TTS

Standard text to speech reads your words; a horror voice generator performs them. Whether you want a creepy voice generator for one line or a narrator for a whole story, here’s how AI Scary Voice compares with plain TTS and voice changer apps.
